My last article was about bees. I spoke of bumblebees, but I did not have a picture. I went out with my camera yesterday morning and walla! There were bumblebees! Newsflash - I just learned that it is National Pollinator Week! Read more about this at the US Fish & Wildlife Service’s Pollinators page.

This Bumblebee (Bombus sp.) is visiting Hummingbird Mint (Agastache cana).

This Bumblebee is pollinating Autumn Sage (Salvia gregii). Look at those giant globs (technical term) of pollen! I found a great site dedicated to bumblebees. It offers a global view of bumblebees and is loaded with information. I love to learn about wildlife from people who have a passion for a particular family, genus or species. That enthusiasm easily transferrs to me and I soak it up like a sponge! I hope to pass on my own wonder and enthusiasm for birds and all creatures to others as well.
