Gorgeous Gaura

If you’ve ever walked through a field full of these native Gaura plants, you would remember their delicious, sweet scent as well as their beauty. There are several species and hybrids of Gaura, but I think this particular one is (Gaura biennis). Also known as beeblossom, this plant is native to North America.1

This is not the kind of plant you’d want for tidy, neat beds. If you want to have these at home, you’ll need a large area where you are going for the “wild” look. They are absolutely gorgeous en masse. I had the pleasure of walking along a path through of sea of these in full bloom, standing 5-6ft tall. Since these plants are biennial, I may not get to see them next year – but I’ll sure be looking for them. Enjoy! :-)

One Response to “Gorgeous Gaura”

  • Huh. I never knew that Gaura was a native plant. I only tried growing it once (I got caught up in the name whirling butterflies). My winters are too harsh here.
