ID Challenge, June 2009 - Winner's Charity

ID Challenge, June 2009 - Winner's Charity

Time to announce the winner of the monthly ID Challenge contest sponsored by Birder’s Lounge. It will come as little surprise to learn that Zeb Acuff has won another $10 for his charity, Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research. We had 2 contestants this month, so if you think you just can’t do it, the odds alone are pretty favorable. Way to go, Zeb!

We also have two more Do-Gooders to brag about:

Liz Gallie writes:

The story ‘Joov the fringe dweller‘ was written from a first hand account of the almost daily activities of cassowaries on my property. Although it is only half an acre it has natural area boundaries on 3 sides with an all year round flowing creek system on two of them. I am trying to eliminate weed infestation and began a rehabilitation of the creek area about 12 months ago. In the first instance all the trees planted are cassowary fruiting trees as the endangered Australian cassowary needs all the help they can get at this time.

Thanks for the opportunity to share this information.

…and Liz has earned $6 for Birder’s Lounge charities by:

  1. HELPED RAISE AWARENESS that everything we do affects the well-being of other creatures
  2. GAVE SOME OF MY OWN HABITAT back to nature
  3. PLANTED A NATIVE TREE on my property
  4. REDUCED OR ELIMINATED my use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers
  5. VISITED a state park, national park, or wildlife refuge
  6. DONATED TIME OR MONEY to an organization that is dedicated to protecting and preserving habitats and wildlife

Thanks Liz! And I have to say, I still think about Joov!

Wren of Wrenaissance Reflections and Nature Blog Network has:

  1. DONATED TIME OR MONEY to an organization that is dedicated to protecting and preserving habitats and wildlife

…by joining the Legacy Land Conservancy, dedicated to “Protecting and Preserving Southern Michigan.”  Awesome!

Finally, we have the winning answers to the June ID Challenge contest:
