About

My name is Amber Coakley, and I have been blogging here at Birder’s Lounge since May, 2008. It took me awhile to find my style, and more importantly – my purpose.

Birder’s Lounge has become a place where I share my enthusiasm about everything from a bug to a bird to a tree. I almost always have my camera with me, and I think of every picture as a souvenir from my outdoor explorations. I never take for granted the fact that I am physically able to walk, hear, and see – to experience nature with all of my senses.

It seems like more and more of Earth’s creatures are in need of protection, and if I could “save” every living plant and animal, I would. Since I cannot save them all, I  support wildlife rehabilitation organizations, as well as conservation programs. I do my best to encourage others to do the same – and to cultivate conservation passions of their own. I lend my support wherever needed, and welcome opportunities to learn about the good work that others are doing.

Like many bloggers, I do have a “day job.” I am a self-employed accountant, analyst, and occasional database designer. I live with my two beagles and my “significant other” of nearly eight years.

I look forward to continuing here at Birder’s Lounge, even as I am busy planning new projects and always spreading myself too thin. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

:-)
